The body of the man, who has been named locally as 28-year-old Jason Jones, was found on the Anse Ger beach near St Lucia Feb 24.

The body of a British tourist was found on a beach after falling overboard while on a boat trip in the Caribbean.

The man, reportedly 28-year-old Jason Jones, went missing during a sightseeing expedition with his girlfriend in St Lucia on Tuesday, it’s reported.

Officers from the police marine unit were dispatched to Canelles, Micoud, to try and find him at about 5.30pm.

But his body was found on the Anse Ger beach in Desruisseaux, yesterday morning, police officials told the St Lucia Online.

He was taken to the St. Jude Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mr Jones had reportedly been with his girlfriend when he fell overboard and attempts to rescue him had proved unsuccessful.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out but initial indications are that he drowned, the Telegraph reports.

A police spokesman said: “The information we have is that he fell into the water. The sea is very rough off that part of the coast.”

Mr Jones’s family in the UK, though it has not been confirmed where, have been informed of his death.

The Foreign Office said: “We are offering assistance to the family of a British national who died in St Lucia on 24 February.”
