The RCIPS can confirm that a 36-year-old police officer has been charged and is due in court.

The officer, who is stationed in Cayman Brac, has been charged with one count of possession of an unlicensed firearm, one count of importation of an unlicensed firearm and five counts of evading customs duty. The firearm charges relate to a component part of a firearm, namely a magazine.

He is currently on police bail and it is anticipated that he will appear in court on Thursday, 24 October 2013.

He has been suspended from duty.

Burglar chased by police and arrested – Suspect now charged and due in court

The 31-year-old suspect who was chased and arrested by police following a burglary on West Bay Road last Thursday has now been charged and is due in court.

He has been charged with two counts of burglary and it is anticipated that he will appear in court this morning, Monday 21 October 2013.

A 31-year-old man is currently in custody after being apprehended by police officers following a burglary on West Bay Road.

About 1.15pm today police received a report of a man exiting Cayman Sands Village, West Bay Road, in possession of a television and other property. Police immediately attended the scene and caught sight of the suspect running from the location. The officers chased the suspect on foot and arrested him on a nearby property. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and the property seized.
