Burglary arrest and Cayman Islands Operation Dasher

Burglary Arrest
Just after 5:00am Friday 19th December 2014, officers from George Town Police Station received a report via 911 of a burglary in progress at a bar on Seymour Road, George Town.
On arrival officers saw two masked males, wearing dark clothing exiting the bar with bottles of alcohol. On seeing the officers the culprits threw two bottles of alcohol at the uniform officers before jumping a fence in an attempt to escape. The culprits were apprehended shortly afterwards by other officers in a cordon near the Butterfield round a bout. A vehicle used by the accused persons was searched and a quantity of liquor, beers and other spirits found.
Arrested are two George Town males, age 31 years and 26 years respectively, both have been charged with burglary and are due to appear in court today Monday 22nd Dec ember 2014.
Operation Dasher
Sixteen persons were arrested by officers for driving under the influence (DUI) in the second week of RCIPS safety campaign Operation Dasher. Drinking and driving is extremely dangerous as it places other road users at risk. Additionally drink driving increases the risk of being involved in a crash and receiving serious injuries.
Using cell phones while driving, remains an area of concern and drivers are advised to use hands free devises while driving; forty five person were prosecuted for this offence over the last week.
Five persons were also arrested for driving while disqualified.
