Butterfield Appoints Bruce John Head of Private Banking in Cayman
Hamilton, Bermuda and George Town, Grand Cayman—11 February 2013: Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited (“Butterfield”) today announced that it has appointed Bruce John Senior Manager and Head of Private Banking in the Cayman Islands. In this role, Mr. John will have responsibility for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of Butterfield’s Private Banking division in Cayman and the Caribbean region.
Mr. John is a career banker with more than 30 years of experience in wealth advisory, trust, corporate and commercial banking. Prior to joining Butterfield, he was based in Hong Kong and headed the trust company as the Managing Director for a major international bank with responsibility for the Asia-Pacific region. There he worked closely with high net worth clients advising them on complex offshore estate planning and investment management solutions. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mr. John spent 12 years in Cayman where he held senior management positions with a major international bank, managing their wealth management and commercial-corporate banking operations. He worked closely with high net worth clients and entrepreneurs advising them on day-to-day banking, customised lending, investment and estate planning solutions used to preserve and enhance their personal wealth, and expand their businesses. Prior to Cayman, Mr. John worked in Canada in the areas of commercial-corporate banking and investments. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
