CAACI donates to Feed our Future Cayman

DSC_0655webThe staff of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) made a generous donation to Feed our Future Cayman (FOFC) as a start to the New Year 2013. Each year the staff of CAACI makes a concerted effort to donate to a local charity. In the past the CAACI has donated monetary contributions, Christmas gifts, needed supplies and household goods for a variety of charities including those as identified by the Department of Children and Family Services, Hospice, and through the local service clubs holiday gift giving.

Deputy Director-General, Mrs. Nicoela McCoy commented, “Each year during the holiday season staff members conscientiously make a decision to reach out and help others in our community.

This year with the keen efforts of staff member Dion Bodden, the decision was taken to collect monetary contributions for “Feed our Future Cayman” which assists school-aged children whose families are financially challenged and who are in need of nutritious meals.” She continued, “Collectively we believe that we can make a difference and help improve our local community.”

“The New Year is a time for renewed energy and hope for many of us. But for the children in our community who face hunger day in and day out, this time of year is no different. Hundreds of children in the Cayman Islands are struggling with hunger. “Feed our Future” along with concerned citizens like CAACI are working together to connect children in need with nutritious food. Through the generous support of the CAACI management and staff we are able to ensure that a child who does not have enough food to eat at home is receiving a healthy meal at school and is ready to learn.” Remarked Stacey VandeVelde, Chairwoman of Feed our Future Cayman.

Feed our Future Cayman (FOFC) is a not for profit association founded in 2011 by a group of professionals who became concerned on the growing issue of childhood hunger in the Cayman Islands. The primary mission is to solve childhood hunger and to support intellectual nourishment in the Cayman Islands. This is achieved through the funding of nutritionally balanced low cost or free school meals to children in need in public and private schools, thereby serving a dual purpose of enriching the learning potential and health of the child and reducing the burden on the community that supports them.
