Cabinet of the Cayman Islands – Post Meeting Summary, 8th March, 2022
His Excellency the Governor Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.
All Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present with the exception of the Hon Bernie Bush – Minister for Home Affairs, Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage. Parliamentary Secretary, Mr Isaac Rankine acted as Temporary Minister for Home Affairs, Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage.
At this meeting Cabinet:
- approved the issuance of drafting instructions to update the Sexual Harassment Bill, 2015;
- approved the purchase of Block 106C Parcel 43, Creek, Cayman Brac, to improve access and car parking to the proposed adjoining community centre;
- approved the purchase of Block 14CJ Parcel 15(part), George Town, Grand Cayman
- noted the Tourism Attraction Board of the Cayman Islands Annual Reports and Audited Financial Statements for the years ending 31st December 2018 and 2019 and authorised the tabling of the Annual Reports and Audited Financial Statements in Parliament;
- noted the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31st December 2020 and authorised the tabling of the Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements in Parliament;
- noted the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31st December 2020 and authorised the tabling of the Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements in Parliament;
- noted the Segregated Insurance Fund Financial Statements for the 12-month period ending 31st December 2020 and authorised the tabling of the Financial Statements in Parliament;
- approved the appointment of the following person to the Human Tissue Transplant Council: Keisha Syms as a Member;
- approved the re-appointment of the following persons as Members to the Council for Professions Allied with Medicine; Richard Jones, Elda Green-James, Dr. Kristina Maxwell and Ana Jackson;
- approved the appointment of the following persons as Non-Executive Members to the Board of Directors of Utility Regulations and Competition (OfReg) for a period of three years; Bonnie Anglin and Natasha Bodden;
- approved the National Pension (Amendment) Act, 2020 (Extension of Pension Holiday) Order, 2022 extending the pension holiday until 30th June 2022; and
- approved funding via Section 12 of the Public Management and Finance Act (2021 Revision) in the amounts of CI$5.0 million and CI$260,000 for presentation to the Finance Committee of Parliament for consideration.
