Calls for Cayman Islands to apply for Island Innovation Awards, launched by President Bill Clinton to celebrate success in sustainability initiatives

Island Innovation are hosting the Island Innovation Awards, in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative. The Awards will recognise individuals, organisations and technologies driving positive change for remote and island communities globally.
The awards and nomination process was officially launched by President Bill Clinton during the Virtual Island Summit last month, which attracted over 14,000 attendees. We’re calling for individuals, organisations and projects to apply and nominate to the awards, which are focused on celebrating excellence in sustainability initiatives. Winners will be publicized across Island Innovation and Clinton Global Initiative networks, resulting in exposure to hundreds of thousands of people globally.
Applications will be reviewed by an esteemed jury, which includes:
- James Michel, Former President of the Republic of the Seychelles
- Anote Tong, Former President of Kiribati
- Christine Milne, current Global Greens Ambassador, former Leader of the Australian Greens and former Senator for Tasmania
- Peter Thompson, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the OceanUN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean
- Tavish Scott, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation, former Scottish Government MSP
- Racquel Moses, CEO, The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator
- Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, Associate Professor of Medicine, Public Health, Yale School of Medicine & The COVID-19 Equity Task Force Chair for President Biden
- Daniel Kammen, Professor of Energy at the University of California and Former Science Envoy, US Department of State
- Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor, University of the West Indies

Island Innovation are also hosting the Islands Space @ COP26, a platform entirely dedicated to sharing islanders’ climate change messages with the world through daily news bulletins, social media posts and interactive discussions with leaders in sustainability.
