Camana Bay Offers Summer Camps for kids of all ages

Multi-Sport Camp_LRCamana Bay, George Town (Friday 21 June 2013): Summer is here and school is out, which means that kids are home for two months of long, empty days. Parents will agree that TV and video games don’t exactly make for a healthy summer vacation; instead take advantage of Camana Bay’s summer camp offerings and design a summer of fun, education and experience for kids of all ages and interests.

For the child with a penchant for athletics, Camana Bay’s sports-centred 3rd Annual Multi-Sport Camp provides a healthy outlet for little all-stars wanting to improve their skills, while keeping them active and engaged. Held at the Camana Bay Sports Complex, campers aged 6-14 will explore a wide variety of sports in a recreational, non-competitive environment under the supervision of some of Cayman’s top sports coaches. The camp is geared towards beginner to intermediate levels and focuses on developing kids’ sports skills and techniques. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, football, ultimate Frisbee and street hockey. Camana Bay’s Multi-Sport Camp takes place Monday 8 – Friday 12 July and Monday 15 – Friday 19 July from 8am to 12pm (drop-off 7:30-8am). Cost is CI$125 per week and parents can sign kids up for just one or both weeks. To register, contact [email protected] or call 345.640.2878.

The summer holidays are a time for kids to explore the outdoors, pursue interests, meet new friends and try new things. And Cayman’s natural surroundings offer a wealth of opportunities for young minds and curious senses. Held in partnership with Sea Elements, the Camana Bay Sea & Discover Camp gives campers aged

8-12 a chance to “dive in” to Cayman’s marine environment and discover the wonders it has to offer through a host of hands-on and educational activities. From daily snorkeling trips, lionfish dissections and Catboat demonstrations to underwater photography, marine biology and a trip to Stingray City, Sea & Discover Camp engages kids while developing a deeper understanding of Cayman’s marine environments and the importance of local conservation. The all-day camp runs for three weeks, from Monday 15 July to Friday 2 August, and the cost is CI$295 per week. Campers will meet on Market Street in the space across from Bedside Manor at 8:30am and pick-up is at 3pm. For more information or to sign-up, contact [email protected].

For creative kids, let their imaginations run wild in the Bon Vivant kitchen when the store hosts their annual Budding Chef Cooking Class Series from Tuesday 2 – Friday 5 July. From bread-making and healthy sweet treats to cooking with local produce and an afternoon titled ‘chocolate attack’, little ones will learn to make healthy, tasty goodies, as well as basic kitchen skills and tricks sure to impress mom and dad. 4-7 year-olds are invited to join Bon Vivant from 12-1pm and 8-13 year-olds can join from 1:30-2:30pm. The cost is CI$30 per class and includes a one hour lesson, snack and take-home creation. Camana Bay’s 2013 summer camp schedule will end with a bang, as aspiring hoop stars live out their basketball fantasies at the 5th Annual Camana Bay Orlando Magic Basketball Camp. Taking place Monday 22 – Friday 26 July at the Camana Bay Arts & Recreation Centre, budding ball players can practice their jump shots as professional youth coaches from NBA basketball team the Orlando Magic teach young campers dribbling, shooting and passing skills. Now in its fifth year, this popular camp fills up fast! To make the most of the unique training opportunities, the camp is split into two sessions; the first session takes place from 8:30am-12pm and is for players 7-12 years-old. From 12:30-4pm, ball players 12-7 years-old will enjoy an afternoon of skill-building, live games and more. The cost is CI$150 for the week and includes a camp T-shirt, giveaways and awards.
