Camana Bay paints the town green for St. Patrick’s Day

Happy Hour at Camana Bay_LRCamana Bay, Grand Cayman (13 March 2013): Green is the colour of the day at Camana Bay as the Town Centre transforms into a Celtic Quarter on the eve of the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

On Friday 15 March, Twisted Clover will kick off Grand Cayman’s St. Paddy’s Day celebrations with a festive live performance on The Paseo. From 7-10pm, join Cayman’s only traditional Irish band, Noel Mowbray (guitar and lead vocals), Mike Pratt (guitar), Royce Scott (base), Nastassja Mowbray (vocals) and guest artist Cheryl Ward (violin), and dance a jig or two at Live on The Paseo. Enjoy traditional Irish songs, jigs and reels then sing along to your favourite songs from legendry Irish rock bands, The Cranberries and U2. Raise your glass and toast sláinte!

All the excitement is sure to arouse the appetite. Continue the celebration at one of the Town Centre’s signature restaurants or wine bars. On The Paseo, choose from classic cocktails and contemporary Caribbean cuisine at Abacus or fine wine and gourmet nibbles at West Indies Wine Company. Head down to The Crescent for an eclectic cocktail menu and signature small plates at KARoo, farm-fresh seasonal dishes at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink or inspired island-style fare at Ortanique and relax alfresco while the kids play in the nearby interactive fountains.

In honour of the Irish festival, Camana Bay will join some of the world’s most famous landmarks and glow green from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 March. Also “going green” is the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the pyramids in Egypt, the Sydney Opera House, Niagara Falls, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the ‘Welcome’ sign in Las Vegas, Table Mountain in South Africa and the London Eye.

“We are delighted to join in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations,” says Ken Hydes, Vice President of Place Management & Experiences at Camana Bay. “And what better way to celebrate than to embrace the Irish spirit with live music, great food, great drinks and great company at Camana Bay.”

On St. Patrick’s Day itself, Sunday 17 March, celebrate the holiday with family and friends. From a genuinely delicious a la carte brunch at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and an all-you-can-eat Barefoot BBQ at KARoo to a traditional Sunday Brunch for the whole family – even pets – on the water at Ortanique and wine tasting at West Indies Wine Company, there is something for everyone this – and every Sunday – at Camana Bay. Arriving by boat? Cayman’s active boating community will be excited to learn that you can dock your boat at no cost in one of The Harbour’s 30 boat slips and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the Town Centre restaurants or an impromptu picnic on The Island. Then grab a crisp bottle of while, chilled to perfection, from the Town’s newest opening, West Indies Wine Company, and enjoy a leisurely afternoon on the North Sound.
