Caribbean Princess evacuated due to bomb alert
Thousands of crew and contractors were evacuated off the cruise ship Caribbean Princess on Friday due to a Bomb scare. The Princess cruise ship was in dry-dock in Grand Bahama Shipyard when the bomb alert was announced at 9:30 am and shortly after, at around 10 am the captain order all on board to abandon the vessel. The news was first released by Jim Walker who was contacted by a crew member saying that thousands of contractors and crew members are now relocating to Port Lucaya. After the evacuation, the shipyard was shut down for the day due to the emergency.
The Bahamian police arrived at the scene with only a few officers and one ambulance. Fortunately, the bomb threat was a hoax and all crew and contractors are safe.
Several people who were onboard the Caribbean Princess when the evacuation was sounded posted photos and videos on the social media about their terrifying experience.
The vessel entered dry dock for a complete makeover on March 26 scheduled to be done on April 6, however, this setback could delay the schedule.
