CARICOM congratulates Trinidad and Tobago on 54th Independence anniversary
Trinidad and Tobago celebrates its 54th anniversary of Independence on Wednesday 31 August.
In a congratulatory message to Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley, CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque spoke of Trinidad and Tobago’s great economic success that has redounded meaningfully to the benefit of the Region.
Having been a founding member of the Community, Trinidad and Tobago has made and continues to make significant contributions to the promotion of regional integration. CARICOM benefits from the leadership on energy and security issues for which you, Prime Minister, have portfolio responsibilities in the Quasi Cabinet of the Conference of Heads of Government.
The Community looks forward to Trinidad and Tobago’s continued support for and commitment to the integration process as your country and the Region progress on the path to sustainable development,” Ambassador LaRocque said.

“Honourable Prime Minister:
It is my pleasure, on behalf of the Caribbean Community, to convey congratulations to the Government and People of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on the celebration of Fifty-Four years of Independence.
Prime Minister, at the national level, your country has enjoyed great economic success over the years. This has redounded meaningfully to the benefit of the Region.
Your country’s achievements in various fields, including the arenas of sports and culture, have served to make the people of Trinidad and Tobago justly proud.
Having been a founding member of the Community, Trinidad and Tobago has made and continues to make significant contributions to the promotion of regional integration.
