The Cayman Islands National U-15 Cricket team is in Nassau Bahamas on an all-important four-match tour.

The squad of 14 boys will be accompanied by a delegation of Caymanian cricket officials and coaches.

The main goal of the trip is to provide the young players with valuable experience for future competitions.

The team will be led by one of Cayman’s talented young hopefuls, Captain Gregory Davis, who will be supported by Vice Captain, Paul Laidlaw.

Throughout the tour, the players will be assessed by their coaches, after which areas requiring improvement will be appropriately addressed.

The test matches will run from the 20th – 27th of August, 2011.

Cayman Islands youth coaches, Andy Myles and Benjamin Maynard are preparing the youngsters for their four match tour.

Technical Director for the Cayman Islands Cricket Association, Veteran West Indian Cricketer, Theodore “Theo” Cuffy is elated about the benefits he hopes the team will receive from the overseas assignment.

Speaking with iNews at the Owen Roberts International Airport just before the teams departure, Mr. Cuffy said, “This is a developmental tour, everybody likes to win but that is not the most important thing now. Hopefully this strategic plan will lead these players straight through to the National Senior Team.”

The matches will be played Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
