IWC celebrates 15 years of keeping Cayman clean

George Town, Cayman Islands, August 12th, 2019 – Solid waste management company Island Waste Carriers is celebrating 15 years equipping the construction, residential and commercial community with waste management education and service.

The company locally known as IWC started in 2004 with 1 grapple truck and 10 dumpsters, hauling its first load for Pro-Builders site in Red Bay. IWC would later join forces to assist MC Restoration with the 2.4 billion in damage caused by the CAT 4 Hurricane Ivan to assist with the clean-up of Grand Cayman in the wake of the 2004 storm. IWC not long after landed it first government contract to relocate the Bodden Town temporary dump site so that hurricane debris could be processed and disposed of properly. Since then IWC went on to be well established amongst contractors, commercial clients and hotels in Grand Cayman.

Today, IWC boasts a fleet of 15 trucks and hundreds of containers making them the well-respected waste management company islandwide now located on the 2-acre property at 19E33 Sparky Drive, Industrial Park. The company offers an arrangement of waste management solutions in assorted styles from skips, roll-offs, front loaders and compaction units. These solutions coupled with the qualified technicians, mechanics and welders of its internal maintenance and repair division has kept the company’s service standards strong and the promise to customers firm ensuring that the Cayman Islands remain a pristine destination to live, work and visit.

Putting its 15 employees and large portfolio of customers at the forefront, IWC wants to create the most efficient, effective, honest, environmentally innovative and profitable waste management company in the jurisdiction.

In 2014, Brown partnered with Guernsey Recycling Group to start sister company Island Recycling Ltd, which handles the buying, processing, export and recycling of non-ferrous metals. The company is also responsible for recycling 670,000 shredded tyres in a 16-month period, the first major Government recycling project of 2016.
