GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands (30 Sep. 2024) – The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) utilises a variety of tools in our mosquito control operations. While many are familiar with our aircraft and fogging trucks, you may not see our Buffalo Turbine in action as often. This powerful tool allows us to conduct larviciding in areas where air traffic prevents the use of aircraft. The product we will be using for Buffalo Turbine operations is Altosid(r)<https://www.clarke.com/mosquito-products/larvicides/altosid-larvicide/>, which will not cause any adverse effects in humans, animals, fish or vegetation.
As we work to reduce mosquito populations over the coming days, we ask everyone to join us in source reduction efforts. Help prevent mosquito breeding by eliminating standing water on your property. Items like toys, flowerpots without proper drainage, tarps, tires, and buckets can easily collect water and become mosquito breeding sites.
