Cabinet Post Meeting Summary

Her Excellency the Governor Mrs. Jane Owen, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 8th August 2023, in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.

The Hon Premier acted for the Hon Minister for Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, Parliamentary Secretary, Ms. Heather Bodden acting for the Hon Minister for Tourism and Ports and Mr. Jason Webster acted for the Cabinet Secretary. All other Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present.

At this meeting Cabinet:

• Confirmed approval granted by circulation on 3rd August 2023 for re-appointment of the following persons to the Health Services Authority Board: Osbourne Bodden, Chair; Joy Vernon, Deputy Chair; Golda Tatum Carter, Director; and Tayvis Walters, Director;
• Approved the following in removal and appointment to the Board of Governors of the University College of the Cayman Islands: removal of Joel Francis as the Minister for Education’s representative and appointment of Jerome McCoy as the Minister for Education’s representative;
• Approved the renewal of two warehouse storage unit leases for the Ministry of Education;
• Approved the part-renewal of a lease for WORC;
• Approved the renewal of a sublease for the RCIPS Air Service Unit;
• Approved the Disposal Authority Governing the Operational Records of the Office of the Commissioner of Police;
• Approved the Disposal Authorisation for Information and Technology Management Records Administrative Schedule No. 4;
• Reviewed and noted the Annual Report for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for the year ended 31st December 2022 and authorised the Hon Minister for Finance and Economic Development to present the Annual Report to Parliament;
• Approved the Unaudited Quarterly Financial Report: Six-Month Period ended 30th June 2023 for publication in the Gazette and for the Hon Minister for Finance and Economic Development to present the Report to Parliament;
• Reviewed and noted that Annual Report for the Ministry of Border Control and Labour for the period ended 31st December 2022 and authorised the Hon Minister for Border Control and Labour to present the Annual Report to Parliament;
• Noted the Tax Exemption Statistics for April, May and June 2023; and
• Noted the update regarding negotiations on the application to modify public rights of way.
