Chamber President Omari Corbin delivered an inspiring address, emphasising the significance of workforce readiness in an evolving global economy. “This event is integral to our ongoing commitment to building a future-ready workforce, a goal at the heart of the Chamber’s three-year advocacy agenda,” Corbin stated. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that the Caymanian workforce possesses the skills, training, and experience necessary to adapt, compete, and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Corbin also underscored the Chamber’s advocacy for expanded internships, work experience programs, and apprenticeships, as they continue to support initiatives like those led by Inspire Cayman. “A strong workforce benefits businesses, families, communities, and the economy,” he said. “By working together—employers, educators, policymakers, and individuals—we can create a skilled, adaptable, and resilient workforce that drives Cayman’s continued success.”

The Expo provided students, job seekers, and employers a platform to connect, learn, and prepare for the future. Attendees were encouraged to interact with exhibitors, ask questions, and make valuable connections. Randy Whittaker, a student from Calvary Baptist Christian Academy, shared his enthusiasm: “I’m browsing to see if I can find any opportunities in accounting or finance to further my education after I graduate.”

Sponsors also expressed their support for the event. Pam Abbott from the Cayman Islands Recruitment Association (CIRA) highlighted the exciting career opportunities in recruitment for young Caymanians. “There’s so much to do in recruitment, and it’s such an exciting career,” she said.

Students from Grace Christian Academy, Tashyla Thompson Brown and Leah Timothy, were eager to explore the Expo’s offerings. “I’m interested in studying art, and I think this is a really good opportunity to look around and see different options for scholarships and internships,” said Tashyla. Leah added, “We’re here to look around and find out more about different career paths.”
Kiera Henula, a talent acquisition specialist for the Maples Group, and Amanda Robinson, a senior billing and data analyst at Maples, discussed the internship opportunities within the financial side of the Maples Group. “We find this event really great because we want to support young Caymanian students throughout their career journeys,” said Kiera. Amanda, a UCCI graduate, emphasized the importance of career fairs in discovering career opportunities.

Where did they promote it, because I did not know it was happening and I have asked almost everyone I have come across since reading this and they did not know about it either.
