Further to the announcement on a temporary ban on all public gathering of 50 people or more, the Ministry of Commerce has clarified that staff members are not included in the numbers for establishments such as

Bars

Restaurants

Hotels

The Ministry has further clarified that the 50 people gathered at any establishment should include those inside and outside.
 

Business establishments must have the necessary food safety and sanitary protocols in place and seek advice from the Public Health Department, where needed.
 

In addition, hotels across the Islands are being asked to restrict restaurant service only to their guests.


In light of the ban, Commerce Minister Hon. Joey Hew is urging the industry to act responsibly and help contain the spread of the coronavirus. ” We all have to use an elevated sense of caution as we respond to this situation so as to protect ourselves and the people of the Cayman Islands,” he said.
 

The temporary ban on public gathering has been implemented in light of the global pandemic.
 

Advice from the Ministry of Health is that limiting opportunities for large groups to congregate is one way to halt the spread of the virus.

The strategy aims to delay the peak of confirmed cases in order to lessen the strain on the health sector.

Anyone found breaking 50 people in public spaces ban will be guilty of a criminal offence and faces a fine of $1,000 and six-months imprisonment.
