Cayman: Coronavirus Update 19 March
Today’s need to know is as follows:
Test Results
- Out of 40 results returned today two persons were positive. These persons are believed to be medical staff at Health City.
- Of these most recent results, 29 test cases from the Health Services Authority (HSA) have tested negative, and from Health City, nine cases were negative and two tested positive.
- The two positive cases resulted from contact with the deceased visitor treated at Health City.
- These persons are believed to be medical staff. Their families are in isolation and there is little to no risk of community spread, health experts say.
- So far 65 test results have been received including samples from Health City Cayman and the Health Services Authority (HSA). This includes the patient who passed away last Saturday.
- Sixty persons tested and their families remain in isolation.
Government Decisions & Policies
- Some 66 students have confirmed plans to use a dedicated isolation facility offered by Government.
- Some family members of returning students who are emergency responders have also taken up option to live at a separate dedicated facility, during the mandatory two week self-isolation period for all incoming travelers.
- Premier and Governor urged travelers of all ages to take responsibility for the health of the community by self-isolating for 14 days.
- Students and essential persons who seek such accommodation should call the NEOC between8am and 5pm on 1-800-534-6555 or email [email protected]. All are reminded to practice social distancing at the airport.
Fake News
- Refuting a fake news WhatsApp circulating today the panel encouraged population to monitor only official channels to ensure the provision of accurate and up-to-date information.
Security
- RCIPS Commissioner says his officers paying close attention to domestic matters during this time of self-isolation.
