Grand Cayman – Public Health has issued the COVID-19 Situational Report for Epidemiological, or Epi., Week 19 (8 – 14 May 2022) tonight, Wednesday 19 May.

During Epi. Week 19, there were a total of 895 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Public Health. This was 147 cases more than what was reported in the previous Epi. Week (8 – 14 May 2022).

Officials noted that 2,585 tests were conducted in Epi. Week 19, compared to 2,185 tests in Epi. Week 18 and 1,897 tests in Epi. Week 17.

The test positivity rate was at 35 percent for Epi. Week 18.

During Epi. Week 19, there were 12 inpatients admitted to hospital. Of these, 83 percent were vaccinated (two doses) and 66 percent had received third doses/boosters. There have been 279 COVID-19 patients admitted since March 2020 to 14 May 2022.
