Major upset! Esso Tigers is in the Division 1 T20 final. Esso Tigers provided the first upset of the 2013 season by defeating defending champions Greenies 1 in the first of the two semi finals played at the Jimmy Powell Oval last weekend. ESSO Tigers Daren Cato is a man on a mission. This was amply displayed as he increased his level of concentration scoring 52n.o and guided Esso Tigers to a respectable 123 runs for 3 wickets. Daren’s excellent batting was followed by a remarkable bowling display by his brother Corey Cato whose 4 overs for 7 runs was another feature of this historic win.

Greenies 1 played as champions and did not give up easily. Lead by Captain Chris Palmer 50n.0, Greenies fought all the way. With 2 overs remaining, Palmer made a gallant effort to take his team over the line falling short and providing Esso a victory by 5 runs.

By Rite secured their place in next week final inflicting a 7 wickets defeat on the Police team. Batting first Police scored 114 runs with Nigel Strough getting 29 runs. It was easy sailing for the By Rite batsmen with Jalon Linton 37 and Ainsley hall 32 amongst the runs.

Can Esso Tigers produce another big win or will By Rite take the step up from runners up to champions? The Division 1 Final will be at the Jimmy Powell Oval on Sunday starting at 2.00pm.
