Cayman: CUC donates 50 laptops to Government Schools

CUC’s CFO Letitia Lawrence (second left) presents Lyneth Montieth, Acting Chief Officer of the Ministry of Education (third right) and Ministry officials Mark Ray (left), Jenny Rivers (second right) and Nicholas Obie with one of the 50 DELL laptops donated to the Ministry by CUC.

Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) has partnered with the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Services to donate 50 DELL laptops, to be distributed to government school students across the Cayman Islands.

The donation, worth CI$25,000.00, will provide students with access to a device while at home so they can participate in those parts of continuous learning that call for online access.

“I wish to thank CUC for this generous donation, which underscores our shared commitment in the development of the children of this nation. The Ministry of Education welcomes your continued partnership as we work to educate our future leaders,” stated Honourable Julianna O’Connor-Connolly, Minister for Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture & Lands.

Lyneth Monteith, Acting Chief Officer at the Ministry of Education, stated, “The students who receive the laptops will be very appreciative. With the world moving into a digital direction, this timely donation will allow us to engage our students. We are very grateful to CUC and continue to look forward to additional partnerships.”

Letitia Lawrence, CUC’s Vice President of Finance, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer, noted, “CUC is a great supporter of the Islands’ youth – whether it be through the CUC Primary Football League, our provision of scholarships, or other programmes that we have. We are extremely excited to partner with the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Services to provide students with the tools needed to advance in their education and careers.”
