Grand Cayman, February 20, 2023 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill operation on Ash Wednesday.

The George Town Landfill will open at 5:00 am and close at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. No reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals through the gate on this day. However, regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal on this public holiday. Regular operations at the George Town Landfill will resume on Thursday, February 24, 2023.

Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the landfill which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary.

There will be no changes in the schedule for Sister Islands and collections as normal.
