Cayman: DEH promotes Healthy & Green Halloween
Grand Cayman, October 20, 2021 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is providing food safety tips and promoting recycled craft ideas to encourage residents to celebrate a Healthy & Green Halloween this year.
As many families participate in Halloween celebrations, the DEH continues to encourage the public to have fun while staying safe. Food safety is critical to avoid contaminated foods from being consumed thereby resulting in food-borne illness. On the other hand, recycled crafts are the perfect way for kids to turn trash into something new.
“Having a Healthy & Green Halloween not only is an excellent opportunity to disseminate messages to ensure treats are safe for children consumption, but it also encourages to reduce waste this spooky season by teaching them the importance of reducing waste through recycling”, according to Mr. Richard Simms, DEH Director.
The Department is also encouraging residents to share pictures or videos of their own Halloween creations and tag the DEH or to submit them to the DEH Facebook page where food safety tips and recycled craft ideas will be posted from now until the end of the month.
