Cayman detectives seek witnesses to weekend assaults

TEENAGER WITH KNIFE..ADR5B7 Youth with knife UK.Knife crime.stabbing.George Town CID are appealing for witnesses in two separate incidences of violence over the weekend in which a number of persons received injuries from bladed weapons.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at approximately 2:31am. in the vicinity of an after hours session on Shedden Road, George Town. It was reported to the police that a fight was in progress between a group of males at that location. One of the males received a laceration to his face while another male received a wound to the face along with a swollen eye. Both persons have been treated for their injuries and released from the George Town Hospital. The police are very interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed this incident.

The second incident occurred along West Bay Road in the vicinity of Dream Night Club in the early hours of Saturday morning at approximately 03.07am. 911 communications Center received a report stating there were two males armed with    machetes chasing another male along the West Bay Road. This resulted in the male receiving a number of very serious but none life threatening wounds to his head and neck. Armed police officers were dispatched to the scene, but upon their arrival all parties had departed the area. The injured male has since been treated for his injuries and released from the George Town Hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Kay of the George Town CID states, “ This weekend, we have once again seen two very violent incidents involving young men using knives and machetes to inflict very serious injuries to their victims. These incidents of violence will be thoroughly investigated by the RCIPS and the offenders will be sought out and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. While we continuously strive to investigate these incidents, I would also like to encourage anyone who witnessed them or has any information about these horrific attacks to come forward in confidence and assist us with our inquiries.”
