Caystage at the Prospect Playhouse is really excited to announce that we will be welcoming the Royal Shakespeare Company education team to Cayman for a week of workshops and offerings with the Cayman Drama Society. The Royal Shakespeare Company brings their professional expertise to our shores to bring engagement with Shakespeare to us. The week will include a CPDL for Primary School Teachers on the RSC’s famous Rehearsal Room Pedagogy, alongside some workshops with individual schools who are working on Shakespeare, and our own acting classes at Caystage. This project is sponsored by The Aall Foundation, who funded the practitioners coming, along with Ritz-Carlton as accommodation sponsors, Bread and Chocolate as teachers lunch sponsor, and Red Sail Sports who are taking our guests to stingray city!

We are thrilled to be hosting such a unique project, which is the first time we have had something of this kind in Cayman, and the RSC’s first project in the Caribbean. It came about when I was in Stratford-Upon-Avon doing my Masters in Shakespeare and Education, and ended up in a training group with one of the RSC’s Education team…long story short I talked them in to coming to work with us and of course it was meant to happen in Spring 2020 but was another victim of covid-19’s wrath so this has been a long time coming.
