Cayman Drama Society to present Barefoot in the Park

Set in the midtown Manhattan in the late 1960s, Neil Simon’s Barefoot In The Park revolves around newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter who are moving in together for the first time. The comedy begins on the first day in their first, and somewhat small, apartment. They are madly in love but not ready for what comes next. The Bratters, ready to start their new life together but not quite sure how, face their first hurdles of marriage in front of the audiences eyes.

Prospect Playhouse members will be familiar with Neil Simon’s work having hosted his iconic comedy “Rumors” in 2012. Some may remember the movie adaptation starring Jane Fonda, and Robert Redford in the leads. Barefoot in the Park brings together some new and familiar faces in the Cayman acting scene. Liam Oko and Laveda Thompson play the lead roles of Corie and Paul, while veterans Fay Anne de Freitas and Michael McLaughlin play Ethel (Corie’s mum) and Victor (their nosy neighbor) respectively. Ted Bilak makes his CDS acting debut playing a nostalgic telephone repair man. Paul Njoka sits in the director’s chair for his third play at the Prospect Playhouse, (2012’s “Rumors” and 2014’s “Duets”) with the assistance of Erica Ebanks. Set Design and Build done with excellent and astute care by Prospect Playhouse Theatre Manager, Paul de Freitas.
Barefoot In The Park is on Thu-Saturdays from 9th-24th March 2018, at the Prospect Playhouse.
