George Town, Grand Cayman (Friday, 2 August 2024): Cayman First has donated CI$10,000 to LIFE Ltd. and the Lighthouse School as part of its ‘40 for 40’ initiative to mark its 40th anniversary.

In 2024, Cayman First pledged to give CI$40,000 to local causes during its year-long anniversary celebration to honour four decades of business and as part of its commitment to be a socially responsible company. This is the first of four CI$10,000 donations planned for the year.

The causes have been chosen by an internal committee of employees covering four categories important to Cayman First, including youth and education, sports, healthcare, and the environment.

“Cayman First has always actively supported local causes, with several long-standing philanthropic initiatives including Charities of First and Classroom of the Month,” says Mr. Chris Hind, Chief Executive Officer of Cayman First. “This year we are pleased to celebrate our 40th anniversary by continuing our commitment, financially and through volunteer efforts, to help strengthen the economic and social impact these organisations have on the community we are privileged to serve.”

This first CI$10,000 donation will be split between the two beneficiaries going towards their important work to support youth education in the Cayman Islands.

LIFE Ltd. is an independent charitable organisation founded in 2012 to improve reading ability among children and adults through educational initiatives that assist in making the necessary changes to facilitate better teaching and learning in schools. “We are delighted to be a part of Cayman First’s 40th anniversary celebrations,” says its Executive Director, Ms. Erica Dell’Oglio. “We would like to thank Cayman First for being a great role model for the business community, and for supporting our mission to increase literacy levels across the Cayman Islands.”

In addition to the ’40 for 40’ initiative, the company has planned several events to honour its employees, partners, and customers as part of its anniversary celebrations and introduced a volunteer scheme whereby employees are encouraged to commit 40 hours to causes important to them over the year, with Cayman First offering additional paid leave in return.
