Cayman: IMAC elects 2024 Executive Committee

Kieran Mehigan

George Town, Grand Cayman, December 19, 2023 – The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC) held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in early December, announcing new board positions for 2024. The Executive Committee will be Chaired by Kieran Mehigan, with James Trundle serving as Vice Chair. Mike Scott will serve as Treasurer and Erin Brosnihan will serve as Secretary.

When asked about the upcoming year, Mehigan said, “I am looking forward to everything we’ve planned for 2024. IMAC and our members are dedicated to working together with other stakeholders within Cayman’s financial services industry to continue representing our growing industry both locally and internationally. I also want to thank Lesley Thompson, the previous IMAC Chair, for her dedication to our Association’s mission.”

Since 1994, IMAC has represented insurance managers, captive insurance companies and service providers, acting as a vital link between the industry, government and regulator in the Cayman Islands.

IMAC has active committees that focus on different key functions of the long-running association:

The Cayman Captive Forum Committee will be Chaired by Alanna Trundle. The Cayman Captive Forum just celebrated its 30th year in November 2023 with close to record-number attendees.

The Marketing Committee, who focus on expanding the Association’s reach locally and internationally will be Chaired by Martin Cooke.

The Education & Social Committee, who arrange lectures, panels, member socials and fundraisers throughout the year will be co-chaired by Heather Deveau and Joni Steffen.

The IMAC Educational Scholarship Foundation (ESF) will be Chaired by Lesley Thompson, IMAC’s past Chair. To date, the ESF has successfully raised more than $5 million, enabling IMAC to support 65 young Caymanians in pursuing higher education internationally.

Paul Macey will Chair the Legal & Regulatory Committee, joined by Clayton Price, and Jenny Pooley will serve as the IMAC Office Oversight.

The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC) represents the international insurance industry in the Cayman Islands. IMAC liaises with government and the regulator on the industry’s behalf and promotes innovation and international competitiveness to maintain Cayman’s advantageous market position. The Cayman Islands is the second largest domicile in the world for captives and a dominant jurisdiction for healthcare captives, group captives, catastrophe bonds and international reinsurance.
