Cayman Invitational

The inaugural Cayman Invitational meet at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex started yesterday (9).

Heading the list of athletes competing at the meet were world 100 metres champions Yohan Blake and Carmelita Jeter.

More than 80 professional athletes, many of them world championship medallists and Olympians, competed in 11 track and two field events, that started at 6pm.

Other world renowned athletes here include Novlene Williams-Mills, Chris Brown, Dylan Armstrong and Kim Collins and Cayman’s own Cydonie Mothershill.

The Cayman Invitational is a professional track meet that comprised of eleven track and 2 field events. The May 9th one day competition took place at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Grand Cayman. The Invitational is the first North America Central America and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) certified permit meet to be held in the Cayman Islands and the event is positioned to become a permanent highlight on the Cayman Islands Sports Tourism calendar.

The event is sponsored by the Cayman Islands Government, DART, Cayman Airways, DMS Broadcasting, LIME, the Department of Tourism, Cayman National Bank, Water Authority and the Caymanian Compass.
