Cayman is having a good Island Games
Island Games Track & Field Day #4
From Bernews
The fourth day of competition in the 2013 NatWest Island Games took place yesterday [July 17], with track and field athletes from various islands competing at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire.
Bermuda’s track and field athletes won two medals during the day’s competition, with Tristan Joynes claiming gold in the 110m hurdles while Bruce DeGrilla won bronze in the long jump. Bermuda’s Ethan Philip was 4th in the long jump, while Stephen Allan was 4th in the 5000m.
The Caymanians also had a good night on the track, with Cayman Islands twins Carl and Carlos Morgan winning the gold and silver in the long jump, and Cayman’s Alexander Pascal winning the gold in the javelin, with his throw of 70.66 breaking the old Island Games record of 68.80
An athlete from the Welsh island of Ynys Môn won the gold in the 5000m, and the contingent from Ynys Môn were clearly thrilled, and continued to keep singing their island’s anthem well after the medal ceremony had ended.
Bermuda ended the fourth day of competition with a total of 39 medals. Isle of Man leads the medal table with 55, Jersey follow with 52 medals, while Guernsey has a total of 40 medals.
