Cayman Island Key Club students attend Annual Convention
Once there, the Key Clubbers participated in many exciting and informative workshops, received club officer training, enjoyed a performance by world renowned magician Jason Latimer, voted for the new 2012-2013 District Board as well as participated in fundraising efforts for the ELIMINATE project, a project pioneered by Kiwanis and UNICEF to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the earth by 2015.
The District Convention not only proved to be an enjoyable experience—”…the best 4 days of my life!” according to JGHS Club Treasurer Nathan Dilbert—but also an enlightening one. “DCON really showed me that Key Club is so much bigger than Cayman”, said JGHS Club President Matthew Welds. More seasoned Key Clubbers agreed that “every time I’ve went I’ve returned to Cayman with a greater passion for community service!”
“The opportunity to attend DCON is a life changing experience,” mentioned Alexandra Franklin, the 2012-2013 Key Club Lieutenant Governor for the Cayman Islands, “one that has attributed to my inspiration to go for an office such as the one I currently am holding!”
While at the Convention outgoing Lt. Governor Diana Tibbitts of the Cayman Islands Key Clubs won the Prestigious Leader of Leader Award and the Distinguished Lt. Governor Award. She also Co-hosted the Talent Assembly and incoming Lt. Governor Alexandra Franklin, installed at the Convention, Sang God Save the Queen at the Governor’s Ball.
