Cayman Island student graduates from UK University with Honours

Vassel Godfrey Johnson Ill has just graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with a 2-1 Honours Degree (Master of Engineering in Marine Technology with Honours in Small Craft Technology). He was awarded the David Anderson Memorial Scholarship in 2008 when he started his studies, as well as a non-legal scholarship from Maples and Calder.

During his third year he was  awarded the Marine Technology School  Prize for Small Craft Technology. Godfrey, with a course mate from university, also submitted a joint entry in the Boat International Young Designer of the Year Competition.

Over the summer breaks, Godfrey has been working at the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry assisting the surveyors and in September is going back to work in the UK office of the Shipping Registry to gain further experience in the field and to pursue his professional eng1neering designation before returning to Cayman.

He is a member of the George Town George Hicks Memorial Church of which he has been a part all his life, and the son of Bud and Sheila Johnson.
