Cayman Islands: 4 Men charged with Importation of Ganja following interdiction of drug boat

The four men who were arrested on Friday, 7 September, following the interdiction of a vessel east of Grand Cayman (see below), have all been formally charged with Importation of Ganja. They are appearing in court this morning, 10 September.

Drug Boat Intercepted Off-Shore, East of Cayman, 4 Arrested
Early this morning, 7 September, officers of the Air Operations and Joint Marine Units were conducting proactive border patrols east of Grand Cayman when they spotted a vessel acting suspiciously over 20 miles from shore. Upon approaching the vessel officers observed persons on board throwing packages overboard. The packages were retrieved and four men, all Jamaican nationals, age 31, 32, 33 and 45, were taken into custody.
The packages recovered contained a quantity of suspected ganja with a gross weight of 513lbs. The men remain in Police custody.
