Cayman Islands ACC make 13th arrest
The arrest was made in connection with an ongoing investigation and previous arrests made on 19, 24 and 27 January 2017, 31 May 2017, 7, 14 and 16 November 2017. A total of thirteen persons have now been arrested in connection with this matter.
Responsible for investigating serious allegations of corruption the Investigators arrested this individual (who is not a public official) on suspicion of committing the following offences:
1. Bribery of a Public Officer — contrary to s.10 of the Anti-Corruption Law (2016 Revision);
2. Fraud on the Government — contrary to s.11 of the Anti-Corruption Law (2016 Revision); and
3. Breach of Trust — contrary to s.13 of the Anti-Corruption Law (2016 Revision).
In the first instance, this individual will be detained for questioning at the Prisoner Detention Centre (Fairbanks).
The twelve persons previously arrested in this matter remain on bail.
The investigation continues therefore no further details will be released at this time.
