Cayman Islands Asst. Collector of Customs retires with 39 years perfect attendance

GroupAssistant Collector of Customs Trevor Williams rose up from the ranks in Her Majesty’s Customs Department to his current position over 39 years of public service.

Yet the senior officer, who is retiring on 30 November 2015, also distinguished himself in other ways, notably by not taking a single day in sick leave over his nearly 40 years of service.
He earned praise and reward for this feat and his many other worthy attributes at a retirement celebration on Friday, 13 November. Finance Minister, Hon. Marco Archer, on hearing of his record, announced a monetary bonus.

DSC_7269 AIn addition, Mr. Williams received from Collector of Customs, Mr. Charles Clifford, a commemorative plaque, a watch, two complimentary airline tickets from Cayman Airways to any destination the national carrier flies, as well as free board for both passengers at that destination.

Mr. Williams arrived at Customs via Postal Services where he had reached the rank of Senior Assistant Postal Officer. He progressed at Customs through his hard work.

Speakers noted that his commitment, diligence and superlative customer service ethos extended to the department’s customers and his colleagues; especially junior officers, whom he has mentored with care and compassion over the years.

The gathering also learnt that Customs would continue to seek his services in providing on the job training to DSC_7284 Ajunior officers.

Speakers and attendees included Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson; Financial Secretary and Chief Officer, Mr. Kenneth Jefferson, Chief Officer, Ms Gloria McField-Nixon; Collector Clifford, Deputy Collector, Mr. Collie Powery, and Customs Training Manager, Mr. Langlie Powery. Several colleagues of Mr. Williams also spoke from their heart about his positive impact on their careers and personalities.
In response, Mr. Williams expressed his sincere gratitude to all for according him a truly memorable send-off.
