Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Six (6) Vehicles
Just before 5:50PM yesterday, Tuesday 7 May, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Unit to a location on North Sound Road, where it was reported that 6 vehicles were involved in a collision and several persons were complaining of injuries.
The collision occurred when one of the vehicles, a Nissan Skyline, exited a plaza and entered the middle turning lane to transition into the south bound lane, was struck by the driver of a Mercedes Benz SUV travelling down the middle lane, in an attempt to enter the same plaza that the Nissan exited. After colliding with the Nissan, the driver of the Mercedes is believed to have lost control of the vehicle and proceeds to collide with 4 other vehicles that were in the north bound lane waiting in traffic.
Two persons were taken from the scene by the Emergency Medical Services and another two went to see a physician on their own. All parties were treated and release and are all are believed to have sustained non-life-threatening-injuries.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
Attempted rape in George Town, male arrested – UPDATE
UPDATE: May 9 2019 – The man, age 38 of George Town, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape on Monday, 6 May, has been formally charged with Attempted Rape, Burglary, Assault ABH and two counts of Assault by Penetration. He appeared in court yesterday, 8 May, and was remanded into custody pending a further appearance on 17 May.
Shortly after 6:00AM yesterday, 6 May, officers responded to a report of an attempted rape which occurred in the vicinity of Grackle Road, George Town. A woman had been at the residence when a man known to her broke in and made aggressive sexual advances toward her. The woman attempted to flee but was caught and detained by the man who attempted to sexually assault her, but then fled the scene before police arrived. The woman was taken for treatment for minor injuries and subsequently discharged.
The matter is currently under investigation and all necessary safeguarding measures have been put in place for the victim.
The man, age 38 of George Town, turned himself in to police later that day and was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, criminal trespass, burglary, and threats to kill. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
