Cayman Islands attends Routes Americas

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, 15 March 2017Officials from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (DoT) and Cayman Islands Airports Authority recently met with airline officials from around North, South and Central America during the Routes America Conference.

Minister of Tourism, the Hon Moses Kirkconnell explained, “Routes Americas is a great opportunity to meet with senior decision makers from the region’s airlines to discuss new market opportunities and the growth of existing services. The event was able to connect us with senior decision makers and offer extensive networking opportunities to enable you to build high value relationships with some of the most influential aviation professionals from across the region.”

The event is structured around pre-scheduled meetings as well as an exhibition and conference. There were over 80 airlines attending the Routes America conference in Las Vegas Nevada. There were also over 840 delegates at this year’s Routes Americas with more than 2,800 face-to-face meetings taking place.

Director of Tourism, Mrs Rosa Harris, said “The benefit of this type of event is more than evident as it brings in airlines from all around the world, and are able to meet with them directly, instead of having to meet the various airlines in their different headquarters and the expenses and time that are associated with that travel.”

The goal of the DoT officials was to maximize connections to Cayman through the meetings with airline officials and make sure the strategies are in place so that the airlines servicing the Cayman Islands achieve high load factors, which make the routes viable. The meetings also allow dialog between the Cayman Islands and airline partners to discuss ongoing and future promotions and incentives to highlight the various routes to the destination.
