LATEST MAN ARRESTED

On Sunday 26th April, 2015, detectives from George Town Police Station arrested a 24 year old local man from Bodden Town on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident. This arrest follows the fatal collision involving Donnie Ray Connor on the Linford Pierson Highway in the early hours of Thursday 23 April 2015.
A silver Honda motor car with damages was seized as part of the investigation and the accused remains in custody at George Town Police Station.

Detectives from George Town Police Station has joined forces with senior traffic investigators in locating the offending driver and vehicle that struck 59 year old Donnie Ray Connor on the Linford Pierson Highway in the early hours of Thursday 23 April 2015.
Police believe that a silver motor car may have been involved, and should have damages to the front nearside (left) fender, front end, including a smashed head light.
Traders, body shops and individuals dealing with motor parts and vehicle scrap yards, should be vigilant on persons who they suspect may be seeking information, looking to acquire front end parts.

From RCIPS Thu Apr 23 2015 – Fatal Collision Linford Pierson Highway
At approximately 4:30am this morning, 23rd April 2015; the Police and Emergency Services was alerted to the discovery of a male body lying on the roadway on the Linford Pierson Highway.
All relevant services responded and it was confirmed that the individual was in fact deceased and an investigation commenced; it was later confirmed that the incident was the result of a hit and run motor vehicle collision.
The body of the male was later removed from the scene to the George Town Hospital where he was identified by family members as one Donnie Ray Connor, age 59 years of a George Town address.
The matter is now being investigated by the RCIPS Traffic Management Unit and there is an appeal for witnesses who may have travelled on the Linford Pierson Highway between the hours of midnight and 4am to contact the Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Adrian Barnett at 5262204.

Further to previous release, police can now confirm that the incident is being investigated as a fatal hit and run road traffic collision.
A portion of the Linford Pierson Highway remains closed and an update will be sent in due course as to the opening of the highway.

Body of male found
Approximately 4:30am, Thursday 23rd April 2015; police and Emergency Medical Services was alerted by a member of the public that the body of a male was discovered on the Linford Pierson Highway. It is confirmed that the individual is deceased and police are presently on scene investigating the matter. As a result a portion of the highway is closed between Agnes Way and the Crewe Road roundabout. Motorists travelling from Shamrock Road are asked to travel on South Sound Road or Crewe Road; motorist travelling from the George Town area going out of town are also encouraged to travel on Crewe Road and South Sound.
Further details will follow as the investigation progresses.
