Cayman Islands: Cayman Cookout Amateur Chef competition
THE 2014/2015 BON VIVANTCOOK-OFF SERIES CAYMAN COOKOUT HOSTED BY ERIC RIPERT 2015
THE EVENT
This competition is open to Caymanian and local residents. Only NON-Professional Chefs may participate. A “Non Professional Chef” precludes current or former industry professionals that hold/held the title of Chef (including sous chef, chef de cuisines, assistant chef, head chef, etc…).
The competition will consist of three phases:
PHASE ONE – ENTRY SUBMISSIONS
Request for submission of an entrée recipe for four portions, including a picture.
A local panel of culinary industry professionals will select eight amateurs to participate in a live
Cook-Off competition.
- Applications accepted: 1 – 15 October 2014
- Eight contestants announced Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.
PHASE TWO – PRELIMINARY COMPETITION
Elimination challenge Cook-Off held at Bon Vivant to determine the two finalists.
ROUND 1:
- Tuesday, Nov 11 4:30pm – 6:00pm Contestant 1 vs Contestant 2
6:30pm – 8:00pm Contestant 3 vs Contestant 4
- Wednesday, Nov 12 4:30pm – 6:00pm Contestant 5 vs Contestant 6
6:30pm – 8:00pm Contestant 7 vs Contestant 8
ROUND 2:
- Monday, Nov 23 6:00pm – 7:30pm Pre-Qualifier 1 vs 2
- Tuesday, Nov 24 6:00pm – 7:30pm Pre-Qualifier 3 vs 4
PHASE THREE – ROUND 3 / FINALS
Two Cheftestants/finalists will compete in front of panel of celebrity judges during the 2015 Cayman Cookout Bon Vivant Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brunch on Sunday, 18 January 2015 from noon to 3. :00 p,m. to determine the winner of the Cayman Cookout 2015 Bon Vivant Cook-Off.
GRAND PRIZE
Winner will receive a trip for two to the FOOD & WINE Best New Chef Event in New York City; airfare provided by Cayman Airways, hotel provided by The Ritz-Carlton, and lunch at Le Bernardin.
