Cayman Islands Central Procurement Office unveils new website
• The Central Procurement Office launches its new website www.procure.gov.ky.
• It provides a central portal for all things procurement for stakeholders inside and outside Government.

GRAND CAYMAN (GIS) – The Central Procurement Office’s (CPO’s) new website www.procure.gov.ky offers a platform where the public as well as public servants can learn all about Cayman Islands government procurement matters.
Under construction for the past year, the site had a soft launch this week when senior government officials and certain private sector entities were invited to share feedback.
The Central Procurement Office is the government department within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development charged with establishing guidance, standards, tools and templates to regulate public procurement. The new website provides easy and direct access to all the latest information.
CPO Director Craig Milley said that much thought had gone into creating a website that could comprehensively accommodate searches for information by internal and external stakeholders.
As such, the site offers all the information that a procurement officer within government might require when seeking the services of private sector businesses. At the same time, it details how those businesses can bid for government procurements.
To help the public navigate the site, there are tabs for news and events; information specific to suppliers, CPO publications, important links to entities such as the Caribbean Development Bank and procurement industry heavyweights such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS, a global authority on procurement), the Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP) and the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA).
There is also a tab for frequently asked questions (FAQs) and any unanswered queries can be emailed to [email protected].
Website users will notice that the new Procurement Law, which was passed in the Legislative Assembly late last year, is available for all to read, along with the Procurement Regulations that were approved in Cabinet recently. Neither is yet in force but will take effect on 1 May 2018.
“We wanted to ensure that the site is attractive, very easy to navigate and supremely user friendly, in short, that it offers a world-class design,” Director Milley asserted.
The Director and Deputy Director Elizabeth Gerrie were also aiming for a design that readily provided information with minimal search attempts and spent a good bit of time fine-tuning the website design and contents.
“We contracted with local network and website company Netclues (Cayman) Inc. to create, test and set up the website and are very pleased with the high quality work they produced.”
Yet, the website will remain a work in progress at least for approximately a few weeks, to ensure that fine-tuning, if required, continues.
“We wanted to under promise and over deliver, and accordingly used the time to get the website, its contents and design up to exacting specs; and Netclues cooperated admirably,” he stated.
Commented Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson: “I am delighted that the new website is open. It will be another important milestone in our journey to creating a ‘world-class’ civil service in the Cayman Islands.”
Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Roy McTaggart, said, “I am elated that with this website, we have another tool that will enhance and streamline the Cayman Islands’ procurement process. This is another important step in improving governance while at the same time making it easier to do business in the Cayman Islands.”
