Cayman Islands Chamber members benefit from free intellectual property session
The new Trade Marks & Design Laws coming into effect on August 1 were explained in detail by HSM Chambers’ Intellectual Property expert Sophie Davies on Wednesday, July 19 at a BE INFORMED session for Chamber members.
Ms. Davies worked on the committee responsible for drafting the new Intellectual Property legislation for the Cayman Islands, and is a member of respected organisations including the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA) and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
“These sessions are an important part of our service to Chamber members, and we are lucky to have companies such as HSM Chambers share their expertise with those in need of advice,” said CEO, Wil Pineau.
“The majority of our members are small businesses and cannot afford on-demand legal support. To be able to offer them this calibre of information, free of charge, shows how outstanding our services are, and we are proud to be able to support them in this way.”
Ms. Davies was also delivered a presentation on the incoming Intellectual Property Laws to members during a free-to-attend SME Workshop, and we will be hosting another in-depth masterclass on the subject during a training course at our Professional Development & Training Centre towards the end of the year.
For those who were unable to attend the session, a copy of the presentation can be downloaded here.
We would like to thank Sophie Davies and HSM Chambers for supporting our members.
Our BE INFORMED series will continue throughout the remainder of 2017, and other topics of focus will include Data Protection, Marine Conservation, and more.
