Cayman Islands civil servants dress for Kiwanis’ cause

Kiwanis FundraiserDuring the week of 27 – 31 July, the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman raised approximately $500 in donations from civil servants.

The club celebrated 40 years of service last week with Dress for a Cause Day fundraiser, all donations from which will benefit youth projects in the Cayman Islands.

Deputy Governor Franz Manderson presented the funds to Kiwanis representative Martina Jackson last Friday (31 July 2015) at the Government Administration Building. Accompanying him were Portfolio of the Civil Service Chief Officer Gloria McField and civil servants from various agencies.

To support the fundraiser, portfolio staff invited civil servants to dress in blue or yellow club, the club’s colours that day. Those who chose to dress in these colours were asked to make a donation to Kiwanis representatives who were in the (GAB) lobby on Monday, 27 July and Thursday, 30 July.

The local club is a division of the Kiwanis Club International, a not-for-profit organization that upholds the motto, “Changing the world, one child and one community at a time”. The local club conducts multiple fundraisers and events to benefit the community, according to the club.
