Cayman Islands compete in Caribbean Union of Teachers Athletic Games, BVI

2016-07-12 07.50.05_resized_1The Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) Athletic Games was held in Tortola BVI, July 15-16.  The track & field competition is for youth athletes and age group categories are U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 age (boys and girls). The Cayman team consisted of 4 athletes and two officials.
Overall the team did well and it was great exposure for them competing against teams from Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas to name a few.  Our youngest competitor Anthony Chin Jr. was the only medallist. He won silver in the Under-9 boys Long Jump.
Acting President, Cydonie Mothersill stated “The CIAA is extremely proud of all our athletes who represented us at the CUT Games. We had several top eight finishers in their respective events in what was a very competitive competition. It is a great showing for the development of track and field in the Cayman Islands. Special congratulations our sole medalist Anthony Chin Jr.”
Results are as follows:
U-9 Boys – Anthony Chin Jr.  – 2nd Long Jump; 9th 80m
U13 Girls – Rachell Pascal – 6th Ball Throw; 6th Shot Put
U15 Girls – Tori-Ann Gonez – 8th 100m
U15 Girls – Ashantae Graham – 7th Long Jump; 9th 200m
