Cayman Islands Crisis Centre welcomes Erin Brockovich to fundraising luncheon
Environmental activist Erin Brockovich will be the guest speaker at the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre’s Power of the Purse Luncheon to be held on 25th March at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman from 12noon to 3pm.
The Crisis Centre is seeking sponsors for the event to help raise much-needed funds.
Erin Brockovich is a name synonymous with tenacity, triumph and the power of an individual. Erin was the inspiration behind the Oscar Award winning movie Erin Brockovich and the impelling force behind the largest medical settlement lawsuit in history. Hear her incredible journey and become inspired to make a change.

There will also be a Silent Auction for Designer Handbags and raffle tickets for some great gifts, with all proceeds going to the Crisis Centre. Organisers say it will be an opportunity for people to network, be recognized for their contributions and learn how they can make a difference.
The luncheon will also host over 250 of Cayman’s most highly accomplished, respected and affluent women and men.
Scotiabank is a Platinum Sponsor and Ernst & Young is a Gold Sponsor for the event and the Crisis Centre is hoping more sponsors will step up.
The only safe haven for women and their children who are the victims of abuse, is the Crisis Centre.

Erin Brockovich, an inspirational woman who was the force behind the largest medical settlement lawsuit in US history and made famous by the Oscar Award winning movie Erin Brockovich, is coming to the Cayman Islands on behalf of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre and platinum sponsor Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Limited, 25 March 2015 to honour International Women’s Month.
Cayman Islands Crisis Centre fundraising committee member Denise Gower explained the concept behind the event: “To honour International Women’s Month, we wanted to something particularly special, building upon our annual speaker series in which we hosted Leslie Morgan-Steiner in 2013 and Joshua Safran in 2014. Erin Brockovich is the perfect keynote speaker – she is charismatic, energetic and she can speak personally about overcoming challenges and about the power of a single individual to make positive change in society. All of these themes wind closely together and make the perfect fit for both the CICC and for our platinum sponsor Scotiabank”.

The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre is a locally run charitable company that was established in early 2003 with a primary mandate of providing a safe haven for abused women and their children. The Crisis Centre has a 24-hour emergency hotline (943-CICC (2422)) and vital in-house programmes, including case and risk management, individual and group counseling, support groups, referral services and a Children and Youth Programme, which is sponsored by Hedge Funds Care Cayman.
