Cayman Islands: CTMH Doctors Hospital – REGENETENTM Bio inductive Implant System
CTMH Doctors Hospital is proud to announce that they have teamed up with the Cayman Orthopaedic Group in offering special privileges to utilize the CTMH Doctors Hospital Operating Theatre for a new and innovative procedure. Dr. Ivan Wong is now a CTMH Doctors Hospital credentialed Orthopaedic Surgeon with privileges specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder arthroscopy. He is devoting his career to his patients by constantly striving to innovate and make procedures less invasive, with smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter recovery times. Dr. Wong has begun to share this devotion to the people of the Cayman Islands by introducing REGENETENTM a Bio inductive Implant device that provides a layer of collagen over injured tendons. REGENETENTM enables less invasive surgery in some rotator cuff tear etiologies. This procedure preserves healthy tissue and helps restore the rotator cuff footprint. The implant is placed over the bursal surface of a Rotator Cuff Tear and induces new host tissue onto the tendon by 12 weeks. The implant gradually absorbs within six months, leaving a layer of new tendon – like tissue to biologically augment the existing tendon.
Patients have reported less post-op pain and utilize narcotics for half as many days as non-REGENETENTM patients. This procedure has reduced opioid prescription costs and has reduced likelihood of abuse and abuse related costs. Not only do these patients experience less sling time but they also return to work more than twice as fast than non-REGENETENTM patients as well. This procedure has the potential cost savings around $2,000 when used in lieu of mechanical grafts. For hospitals and patients alike, the REGENETENTM is a no brainer. Better patient outcomes allow for more effective use of Health System resources.
We at CTMH Doctors Hospital would like to proudly welcome Dr. Ivan Wong to the Cayman Islands and to the Doctors Hospital family.
