Cayman Islands Department of Tourism Joins Prestigious World Travel and Tourism Council

(DOT) – The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism is pleased to announce that the Cayman Islands has been accepted as a destination member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

WTTC is the global authority on the economic and social contribution of Travel & Tourism and their membership includes more than 200 CEOs, Chairpersons and Presidents of the world’s leading Travel & Tourism companies globally across all industries.

Destination membership in WTTC gives the Cayman Islands a global profile and positioning in the tourism arena along with access to regional forums and exclusive member events for networking with top executives from luxury hotel brands, credit card companies and tour operators — a vital business development opportunity for the destination.

Additionally, the destination will have access to global reports and research through a dedicated WTTC Research Hub.

“I look forward to maximising the opportunities that this strategic alliance with WTTC will provide for the Cayman Islands,” said Mrs. Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism, “Membership in this prestigious council sets us apart from our regional competitors and gives the Cayman Islands the ability to engage directly with senior decision makers in our industry globally.”

WTTC President & CEO, Julia Simpson, added; “We’re pleased to welcome the Cayman Islands as a destination member to WTTC. This signifies the Islands’ commitment to enhancing its global tourism presence and contributing to the global Travel & Tourism sector.

“The Cayman Islands now have a unique platform to engage with leading figures in the sector, access valuable insights, and showcase their distinct offerings on an international stage through their membership. We look forward to working with the team at the Department of Tourism and the innovative contributions they will bring to the Council.”

Director Harris will be the primary WTTC Member for the destination sitting on the council which allows her to attend meetings and networking events. Deputy Director International Marketing and Promotions, Gary Hendricks-Dominguez, will serve as alternate member. Deputy Director Finance and Administration, Kimberly McLean, will serve as an Advisor and will help coordinate WTTC affairs with the Cayman Islands on a day-to-day basis and support WTTC policy development with governments and international organisations.
