Cayman Islands: Drunk and Disorderly behaviour outside liquor license premises

NOTE: Further to the below press release, to clarify, incident took place on Friday 23rd February just before midnight, however the arrests were made on Saturday 24th February.
Just before midnight on Saturday 23 February, police responded to a disturbance report outside of Kelly’s Bar on Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay, where a 22-year-old-woman of West Bay, was shouting expletives and fighting.
When officers arrived the woman was seen banging on the bar door and behaving in a disruptive manner. When they attempted to calm her, she proceeded to curse at them and appeared very intoxicated. Officers then informed her that she was being arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, at which point the woman kicked the officer who moved to handcuff her. As the woman then became more aggressive the officer utilized his safety equipment and deployed pepper spray in order to subdue her.
A crowd began to form around the officers and a second woman became aggressive toward the officers while they were subduing the initial suspect. Officers deployed the pepper spray again and she was subsequently arrested by the officers.
The 22-year-old-woman was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, assaulting police and being drunk and disorderly. The second woman, age 54 of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. Both women are currently on Police bail.
