Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision on Shamrock Road in Bodden Town Yesterday Evening, 21 February

Just after 8PM yesterday, 21 February, police and emergency services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Shamrock Road in Savannah, where a Burgundy KIA Sportage and motorcycle had collided in the vicinity of the Countryside Shopping Mall.

The motorcyclist was transported to George Town Hospital and pronounced dead. The driver, age 53, of North Side, was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, and is in Police custody.

The deceased was Denvil Roy Mitchell, age 40, of West Bay.

Please note that we are requesting that the driver of the Silver Honda CRV that was behind the motorcycle before the crash please contact the Traffic Management Unit at 324-9853. This is a number that will also be answered after hours.

The scene was cordoned off and examined this morning for reasons of safety and preservation of evidence. We understand the delay for commuters this morning and apologize for the inconvenience caused, however, this was necessary given the severity of the incident.
