Cayman Islands Fire Service Statement on Fire in Rock Hole
On Sunday, 1 September 2024, 911 dispatched the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) at 2:57 p.m., to a report of a structure fire at Gresscott Lane, George Town. The fire crew arrived on the scene at 3:02 p.m. to find flames and smoke visible from the front door of the residence.
The firefighters began fire suppression efforts and swiftly brought the fire under control by 3:08 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished by 3:11 p.m.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Further details will be provided as they become available.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Randy Rankin again made a special appeal for the public to adhere to fire safety protocols. “Prevention is key. The fire service is doing its part and we ask the public to join in observing fire safety at all times.”
CFO Rankin also commended the firefighters, noting that the quick response stopped the fire from spreading. “We remain steadfast in our dedication to safeguarding the wellbeing of Cayman, he added.
