Ryan Kim Ashley Bateman has received a Decision Notice from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority cancelling his director registration.

Bateman fled the Cayman Islands in 2014 accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm to a woman he was living with at the time. There are also a number of civil suits pending against him plus other legal issues.

Bateman is a Canadian.

The Decision Notice states:

We write to you in your capacity as sole director of B & C Capital Ltd. and Bateman & Company Ltd. (together “the Covered Entities”). We refer to our Decision Notice dated 7 June 2016, in which the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“the Authority”) imposed a condition on your director registration and directed you to take various actions regarding the Covered Entities by stated deadlines (as amended).

To date you have not complied with any of the Directions detailed in the Authority’s Decision
Notice.

TAKE NOTICE:
The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority of 80 Shedden Road, Elizabethan Square, PO Box 10052, Grand Cayman KY1-1001, Cayman Islands, has taken the following action:

ACTION:
Pursuant to section 25(2)(a) of the Directors Registration and Licensing Law, 2014 (as amended) (“the DRLL”), the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority hereby cancels the director registration held by Mr. Ryan Kim Ashley Bateman.

REASONS:
The Authority is, pursuant to sections 25(1)(a), (d) and (e) of the DRLL, of the opinion that you, Ryan Kim Ashley Bateman- (1) are carrying on business in a manner detrimental to the public interest, or to the interests of the covered entities for which you are appointed as a registered director; (2) are not carrying on business as a registered director, in a manner that is fit and proper; and (3) are a person that is not a fit and proper person to hold a position as a registered director.

Further, you, Ryan Kim Ashley Bateman, have failed to comply with any and all of the Directions issued by the Authority on June 7, 2016, and have done so without providing the Authority with any substantive or adequate explanation for your failure to comply with the said Directions, either at all or within the timeframes specified by the Authority.

You have also failed to seek or obtained an extension of the time within which to comply with the
Authority’s said Directions.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF DECISION:
The Authority’s decision regarding the above action is effective 30 June 2016.
